The process of vacuum forming [also known as thermoforming] begins with a thermoplastic sheet, in a variety of textures and colors. The sheet is heated to form a drape and is then drawn over or into the mold to impart a desired shape. After it is cooled, the excess sheet material is trimmed, to yield a final part.
